What is the logic for a socket to report power statistics?

The socket reports data when the current changes by 10%, the power changes by 10%, or the voltage changes by 2%. If the power is less than or equal to 3 W, the power change cannot be identified and the current and power will not be reported. The socket reports power statistics at a short interval of 5s or a long interval of 30s. If no changes were detected in one comparison, the socket switches to the long interval for the next comparison. If changes were detected in one comparison, the socket switches to the short interval for the next comparison. If no changes were detected the entire time, the socket reports data once every 30 minutes.

Do I need to connect an MCU to my power strip?

If you use a Tuya plug-and-play SoC solution to develop the power strip, you do not need to connect it to an MCU.

I have enabled the power-off memory function for a device. Why doesn't the device restore to its state before power-off?

The state before power-off is saved only if it is retained for over 5s. If it is retained for over 5s but not saved, contact Tuya personnel to check the fault. 1. Record a video about the power-off process and send it to Tuya personnel. 2. If Tuya personnel cannot locate the problem based on the video, you will need to send the device to Tuya for troubleshooting.

What is the inquiry and reporting mechanism for power statistics?

1. The hardware does not actively (or rarely) report current, voltage, and power data.

2. When you open the app's power statistics panel, the panel sends query commands at 5s intervals. The hardware reports the power statistics to the cloud after receiving a query command. When you exit the app's power statistics panel, the panel stops sending query commands and the hardware no longer actively (or rarely) reports data.

3. The hardware passively reports current, voltage, and power data and actively reports increased power consumption data at intervals of 5 to 30 minutes.(Note: * Conditions for querying and reporting power data: Panel upgraded (a version available for the public panel of a single socket) + app version 3.8.0 or later + firmware baseline 5.42 or later * Power statistics of plug-and-play firmware: Considering the diversity of customer panels and app versions, the firmware uses an active reporting mechanism by default. If it receives a query command from the panel, it will switch to the reporting upon query mechanism. * If the querying protocol is supported for all queried data, the firmware reports the current, voltage, and power data at intervals of 10 to 30 minutes when the panel does not send query commands.)

How do I prevent button interference to a switch socket?

Connect a high-frequency capacitor to the button.

How do I prevent false triggering of a leakage protection socket?

Use either of the following methods:

1. Connect the socket to a PE cable to test functions.

2. Increase the distance between the high-voltage and low-voltage AC and DC power supplies.

How do I configure the power-off memory feature for a socket?

On the Hardware Commission page for creating a plug-and-play socket, select a module and click Configure Firmware. In the displayed dialog box, set Default power state to Power off memory and click OK.

Can I create a plug-and-play socket with multi relays and multi buttons?

Currently, Tuya modules do not have so many I/O pins to support an independent button for each channel. We recommend that you use the MCU solution.

Can I set the calibration voltage of the metering socket to other values?

Yes, you can set the value to a number between 120 V and 220 V.

How do I configure overcurrent protection for a socket?

1. Log in to the Tuya Smart platform (iot.tuya.com) and click Create on the Home page.

2. In the displayed Create new product page, choose Electrician > Socket and select a power statistics socket.

3. On the Hardware Commission page, select a module and click Configure Firmware.

4. In the displayed dialog box, set Over current protection (mA) and click OK. Note: For a socket without a power statistics chip, you can configure the over current protection function only through hardware design.

Are the voltage, current, and power in the power statistics updated in real time?

No. As the voltage of the grid fluctuates, the current and voltage of appliances are unstable. Real-time data update is meaningless and puts much pressure on the server. In normal cases, the data is updated when the data change exceeds a certain proportion.

What is the power statistics socket calibration standard?

A power statistics socket passes the calibration only when all three parameter errors in the power statistics are within 50%. If a parameter error exceeds 50%, the power statistics socket fails the calibration.

How are the total power statistics uploaded and calculated?

The device will upload data to the cloud once after the power is accumulated to 0.1 W. The total power statistics are calculated and displayed in incremental mode.

Do Tuya Wi-Fi modules integrate the power statistics function?

The power statistics function requires an external power statistics chip. We recommend the HLW8012 and BL0937 power statistics chips.

How many channels does a power statistics socket support?

A power statistics socket supports up to two channels for separate control due to the module's I/O pin limitations.

Why can't my power statistics socket detect electricity or power?

This problem may be caused by current collection. Check whether the resistor is connected to the live wire in series.

What is GNDS in the single-plug socket schematic diagram?

GNDS means an independent network but not a common ground cable.

Do Wi-Fi modules for smart sockets comply with Radio Equipment Directive (RED, EU directive 2014/53/EU)?

Yes.

Can a smart socket connect to a 220 V power supply?

In China, sockets connect to 220 V power supplies. Outside China, sockets connect to 110 V to 120 V power supplies.

Why are some sockets on and some off after successful network pairing?

This is because you selected Power-off memory for these sockets when you created them.

Why does the relay of a socket get connected and disconnected repeatedly?

The power statistics chip of the socket is not connected before it is powered on.

Will the ESP8266 chip turn off the relay if the current of a power statistics socket exceeds the preset threshold on the module platform?

Yes.

Can I use half-wave rectification for the MB6S product in the single-plug socket schematic diagram because the product does not have sufficient space for full-wave rectification?

Yes.

How is Wi-Fi socket data transmitted?

A Wi-Fi socket can upload data to the cloud and deliver data to the app.

Can Tuya develop a Zigbee single-plug socket?

Yes. To create a Zigbee single-plug socket, log in to the Tuya Smart platform, click Create on the Product page, and select Socket_Zigbee from Electrician.

What are the features of an air conditioner companion SoC solution?

1. Three modes, including the air conditioner mode, socket mode, and custom learning mode

2. Device timing and countdown

3. Power statistics and overload protection functions

4. Electricity cost statistics

5. Sleep mode

6. Switch settings for indicators

What is an air conditioner companion SoC solution?

The air conditioner companion is a composite product that combines the shape, functions, and infrared signal capabilities of the socket. This solution supports socket on/off, power statistics, infrared remote control of the air conditioner, and infrared learning. These functions can be applied to the air conditioner companion and infrared single-plug socket. The learning function can also be extended to control other infrared appliances.

What are the specifications for sockets used in Thailand?

The standard voltage in Thailand is 220 V, so electrical appliances that can be used in China can also be used in Thailand without a voltage adapter. However, most sockets in Thailand work with two-pin plugs only.

What are the R14 specifications in the single-plug socket schematic diagram?

R14 is a 1 mR (0.001 ohms), 2 W 2512 resistor. Because a high current flows through the resistor, the resistor is typically made of alloy. The small resistor is used for current sampling and must be connected.
